What the advisor uses
Your device category, eSIM-readiness answer, trip-length range, usage profile, and hotspot choice are processed in your browser to calculate a recommendation. These answers may be written into the page URL so you can refresh or share the result. They are not names or contact details.
Anonymous product events
When configured, ChinaSIMGuide uses PostHog in cookieless mode to receive only explicit product events: page viewed, advisor started, advisor completed, recommendation viewed, calculator completed, recommendation shared, and provider link clicked. We disable automatic click capture, session replay, heatmaps, surveys, error capture, performance capture, and feature flags. The code never calls identify().
Event fields
Events may contain the page path, provider, link placement, device category, trip-length range, usage level, hotspot choice, and recommendation type. Before sending, the site removes undeclared properties. It does not send the full query string, free text, email, order details, or a custom device identifier.
Cookies and Do Not Track
PostHog is configured with cookieless_mode: "always" and respect_dnt: true. The matching PostHog project setting must also allow cookieless events; otherwise PostHog ignores them. If the project token or host is absent, analytics safely does nothing. Visitors whose browser sends Do Not Track are not sent analytics events.
What we do not collect
- No account, name, email address, phone number, payment card, passport, or precise itinerary.
- No payment, eSIM delivery, activation, refund, or support data.
- No session replay or free-text analytics.
Provider websites
Provider buttons can emit an anonymous click event with the selected provider and placement, then use a controlled ChinaSIMGuide redirect to an allowlisted HTTPS Airalo or Holafly domain. No advisor answers or personal information are appended to that destination. After the redirect, the provider applies its own privacy, cookies, account, payment, and support policies.
Hosting logs
Like most hosted websites, infrastructure may process basic request information needed for security and reliable delivery, such as IP address, browser information, requested page, and time. Retention and access should be kept to the minimum supported by the hosting provider.
Future changes
If user accounts, payments, email, saved trips, advertising, or additional analytics are introduced, this page must be updated before those features launch.
